The little girl cried and begged her stepmother, “Don’t hurt us.” Suddenly, her millionaire father

Vanessa watched Richard ascend the staircase, her mind racing. She knew he was serious this time, and the shadows of doubt began to creep into her thoughts. She had underestimated the bond between Richard and his children, a mistake that now threatened the life she had meticulously constructed since marrying into the Carter family.

Meanwhile, in their shared room upstairs, Emily and Michael huddled together, drawing strength from each other’s presence. Emily wiped her eyes, determined not to cry anymore. She had always been the protective older sister, and for Michael’s sake, she needed to be brave.

“Emily, do you think Daddy will make her go away?” Michael asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Emily hesitated. “I don’t know, Mikey.

But I think Daddy believes us now. That’s a start.”

They both jumped slightly as they heard a gentle knock on the door. It opened slowly, revealing their father.

Richard’s face was a mixture of weariness and sadness, but also a new resolve. He stepped inside and sat down on the edge of Emily’s bed, pulling both children into a comforting embrace. “I’m so sorry,” Richard murmured, his voice thick with emotion.

“I should have seen it sooner. I promise I won’t let her hurt you again.”

He pulled back to look at them, meeting their eyes with sincerity. “You two are the most important people in my life.

I’m going to fix this, I swear.”

Emily nodded, a flicker of hope igniting in her heart. She had always trusted her father, despite the recent challenges. Now, she felt reassured that things might finally change for the better.

Downstairs, Vanessa paced the living room, her mind a tempest of plans and counterplots. She knew she couldn’t let Richard derail her carefully planned future. The lavish lifestyle, the social status, and all the perks of being Mrs.

Richard Carter were at stake. She needed a strategy, and fast. As night fell, Richard tucked his children into bed, lingering a moment longer than usual.

He watched them drift into sleep, their faces peaceful and innocent. Once certain they were settled, he returned to the master bedroom, where Vanessa was waiting, her expression unreadable. “Richard, we need to talk,” she began, trying to keep her tone conciliatory.

“I understand you’re upset, but—”

“No,” Richard interrupted, his voice steady. “I’ve heard enough. I’ve already contacted a counselor for the kids, and I think it’s best if you pack a bag and stay elsewhere for a while.

We need space to figure this out.”

Vanessa stared at him, stunned by the firmness in his words. “You can’t be serious.”

“I’m dead serious. Either you leave willingly, or I’ll take further action,” Richard replied, the finality in his voice unmistakable.

For the first time, Vanessa felt a tremor of fear. She realized that Richard was no longer the lovestruck husband she could manipulate. He was now a father fiercely defending his children.

She could either cooperate or face the consequences. As Vanessa packed her things, Richard felt a weight lift off his shoulders. It was just the first step toward healing and rebuilding trust with his children, but he was determined to see it through.
