The neighbor watered the same patch of ground every day, where nothing grew: when the police arrived, they found something horrifying

Every morning, exactly at 6:30, my neighbor went out to the yard with a yellow hose in her hand. And every time the same thing: she watered a small patch of ground by the fence. Always just that patch.

The rest of the yard, where tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries grew, remained dry. At first, I thought she had some particularly delicate plants there. But after a few days, it became clear – nothing was growing on that spot.

Just wet soil. One day I couldn’t take it anymore and asked:

— Why do you water here so often? She flinched, her hands shook, and without looking at me, she muttered:

— I have potatoes here… a special variety.

Potatoes? Every day and with that much water? I realized she was lying.

But I decided not to press – just observe. A week passed. The soil remained empty, and the neighbor grew increasingly nervous and irritable.

Sometimes I felt her heavy gaze on me, as if she knew I suspected something. That night, I couldn’t sleep. One thought kept running through my mind: what if something was wrong there?

In the morning, I called the police. My report seemed strange to them, but they agreed to check. And what the police found in her yard shocked everyone

When the police entered the yard, the neighbor turned pale.

She tried to justify herself, saying it was just a habit, that she felt sorry for leaving the plants without water. But the more she spoke, the more tangled her words became. One of the officers approached the wet soil and began to dig.

A few minutes later, the shovel hit something hard. When they removed the layer of soil… I nearly screamed. A human hand was sticking out of the ground.

It later turned out: it was her husband, who had mysteriously “disappeared” a few months earlier. She had taken his life during an argument and buried him right in the yard, hoping no one would notice. She planted seeds on top to cover it up, but due to the panicked watering, they rotted, leaving bare soil – and that gave her away.

Sometimes I think… if she had watered the entire garden, I might never have noticed anything.
