The son of the hotel CEO insulted the woman who was cleaning the floor, not knowing what would happen next.

We were in the hotel lobby waiting for our rooms to be ready. A woman was cleaning the floor. She wasn’t speaking to anyone, just doing her job.

Then a young man entered the lobby.

Dressed in a smart suit, he spoke with an arrogant tone, as if everyone owed him something. A few employees whispered among themselves, and I gathered that he was the son of the hotel’s CEO.

He walked over to the woman cleaning the floor and said, “This isn’t a station, this is a business. You need to clean the floor before customers arrive, not in the middle of the day.”

The woman looked up but said nothing.

Then the young man kicked the bucket, spilling the water on the floor.

He then added, “Clean this up; you’re here to serve.”

No one responded. Not the security guards, not the receptionists. The woman, without a word, picked up the bucket and continued cleaning.

The young man had no idea what would happen next.

His father, who had seen everything, fired him from the company. Then I heard that he was coming back a few weeks later, but this time as a cleaner, determined to start over.

He learned to respect others and worked modestly, thus proving his transformation. He was promoted to director of human resources development and initiated initiatives to improve working conditions.

He never forgot the lesson he learned in that hotel lobby, and he fought every day for a fairer and more humane work environment.

One day he ran into the cleaning lady, who was now in charge of a team, and gave her a genuine smile, grateful for all he owed her. She, silently, smiled back, aware that what he had experienced had changed him forever.
